BURBANK, Calif., May 5 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Midwest HD EXPO returns to Chicago on Thursday, May 18th for a full day of seminars, experts and exhibits, announced Kristin Petrovich, CEO of HD EXPO. For its sophomore outing in Chicago, Midwest HD EXPO returns to the Film Row Cinema at Columbia College.

Held annually in Chicago, the event is the Midwest version of HD EXPO, which is held twice a year in LA to packed audiences. Both HD EXPO and Midwest HD EXPO are known for superlative panelists, the thoughtful exploration of leading-edge technologies, exhibits from top manufacturers, and unparalleled access to production visionaries and technologists. The seminars, exhibits, keynotes and intensives are offered free to the public at HD EXPO.

Bryan Burns, Vice President of Strategic Business Planning and Development for ESPN, will keynote Midwest HD EXPO. Mr. Burns will address the marketplace conditions that will finally converge in 2006 to utterly reshape the television landscape. The panel "Multi Purposing Content," will be moderated by AICP's Mark Egmon, and will feature a lively look at the challenges and opportunities facing agencies and production companies alike as they deal with the vast array of marketing and advertising avenues. Visionary director Christopher Coppola, a member of the Coppola filmmaking family, Tom Sebastian of Premiere Retail Network, the pioneering place-based media company and other industry insiders will discuss how these changes affect their work and creativity.

The Exhibit Floor offers attendees a rare opportunity to look closely at the latest technologies and to gain unequaled access to experts. The "HOT FROM NAB" exhibits will highlight the very latest technologies unveiled last month at the entertainment industry's tech-Mecca, NAB -- the National Association of Broadcasters show. Cutting edge products and technologies from manufacturers including Panasonic, Facilis Technology, AJA, Boris, Fletcher Chicago, One Beyond and many others will be showcased.

Speed Dating with Experts, a long-standing fixture of the Los Angeles HD EXPO, will arrive in Chicago this year. Speed Dating with Industry Experts offers participants a rare opportunity to spend one-on-one time to ask questions or discuss projects with an industry expert. Experts include Jim Martin, Head of Production at a major advertising agency; Emmy-award winning Rick Thompson, DCS; President of Cinequipt Brian McGraw and other respected experts. Participants are given five minutes alone with the expert of their choice.

The year's Midwest HD EXPO also debuts the newest HD EXPO feature: the "Intensive". Apple and Panasonic will offer an intensive seminar utilizing Final Cut Studio & the AG-HVX200 camera, illustrating innovative work flows for these products.

"Our experience in Chicago last year was fantastic," commented HD EXPO CEO Kristin Petrovich. "Clearly, Chicago is a very important advertising hub. The superb production and post production facilities here, as well as the wide-spread deployment of high definition technologies, make it one of the top places to examine technology and its impact on the creative process". Petrovich concluded, "It was very obvious to us last year that Chicago's creative community was profoundly interested in learning about tools and technologies that would expand their creative options."

HD EXPO returns to Los Angeles on November 2, 2006 at the Universal Hilton.
