CERRITOS, Calif., June 14 - Memorex once again maintained its position as the number one provider of digital media by capturing nearly three-quarters of all Double-Layer DVD media sales for April. Memorex garnered a massive 73 percent of Double-Layer DVD media unit sales, a 40 percent increase in unit share from March. As a result, Memorex propels to the top of Double-Layer DVD media sales year-to-date, with more than 50 percent market share.

Sales of Memorex Double-Layer DVD+R DL discs in April alone account for more than half of all Double-Layer discs sold during the first four months of 2005, according to The NPD Group, a leader in market intelligence. NPD, an independent market analysis firm, tracks point-of-sale information by volume and dollar sales to determine how well products are selling in the nation's top retailers.

"Double-Layer DVDs are still a fairly new technology, yet consumers have shown their trust in the Memorex brand by purchasing significantly more discs in April than ever before," said Brad Yeager, director of product marketing, optical media. "Double-Layer DVD discs are perfect for capturing, saving and sharing today's rich digital content, which demands higher capacity media."

For 2004, Memorex retained its position as the number one provider of digital media, outperforming all other brands of CD and DVD media in the United States. For the fifth consecutive year in the CD category and third consecutive year in DVDs, Memorex led its competitors in all blank digital media, in both volume and sales, according to NPD data. Memorex secured a 27 percent share of the CD market based on dollar sales -- about twice that of the number two brand; and a 30 percent share of the DVD market, based on dollar sales -- nearly three times that of the number two brand.

About Memorex Double-Layer DVD Media

Among the first to ship recordable double layer media last year, Memorex introduced Double-Layer DVD+R DL discs that record at 2.4X speed and allow for 80 percent more capacity than current single-layer discs. Longer continuous recording makes Memorex Double-Layer DVDs ideal for saving movies, music and up to 8.5 GB of data. Double-layer discs offer DVD-quality picture resolution with 240 minutes of recording time -- about two hours more than a single layer DVD -- accommodating most standard length movies all on one disc. In addition to entertainment fans, computer users also will find high-capacity double- layer DVDs to be an ideal back-up and storage medium for their data files. Memorex DVD+R DL discs are compliant with DVD+RW Alliance specifications.

Memorex Double-Layer DVD+R DL discs are available for a suggested retail price of $24.99 for a 3-pack, $79.99 for a 15-pack spindle, and $109.99 for a 25-pack spindle.
