Hollywood Media Powerhouse Renews Its Relationship With vMix to Promote Hit Television Shows and New Release DVDs
SAN DIEGO and CENTURY CITY, Calif., July 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Fox Home Entertainment and vMix, a Web community "Where the World Comes to Watch," today announced that the companies will expand upon their cross-promotional marketing relationship to further personalize and enhance the interactive experience on vMix.com. vMix has introduced more personalized features such as member voting, play lists and comments to the existing Fox content on the vMix Web site. The new features will engage viewers in fun and exciting ways to promote Fox Home Entertainment's upcoming TV on DVD releases including "How I Met Your Mother Season 1," "Prison Break Season 1" and "Arrested Development: Season Three," in addition to Ice Age: The Meltdown and X-Men: The Last Stand.
Since November 2005, Fox and vMix have teamed up to leverage a Web 2.0 strategy in their marketing efforts that enable their audiences to interact and build a community around user-generated content combined with popular copyrighted content from Fox, such as clips from "Family Guy" and "American Dad." Unlike other user-generated video Web sites, vMix is dedicated to providing an accessible venue with creative tools that enable vMix members to easily create, edit and share original content with the vMix audience. Since its inception in October 2005, vMix implemented a proactive anti-piracy policy and filtering mechanisms to prevent copyrighted content from appearing on the site without permission from the content creators.
"We are pleased to strengthen our relationship with Fox, a company that consistently develops innovative and quality entertainment that resonates perfectly with the vMix audience," said Greg Kostello, CEO and founder of vMix Media. "Fox and vMix's long-standing partnership proves that traditional and new media can have a symbiotic existence that leverages new media to create new revenue models while simultaneously preserving existing brand equity and image."
Past Fox and vMix promotions include Walk the Line, Napoleon Dynamite: Like, the Best Special Edition Ever!, "American Dad," and "Family Guy." For the Walk the Line DVD release, vMix and Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment created buzz with an online sweepstakes challenging fans to create a musical slide show to win their very own copy of the movie. To enter, fans downloaded stills from the film from vMix.com and blended their own music mix to create a slide show. Fans with the best slide shows won copies of the Walk The Line DVD. Consumers were also entered to win a Martin D-28 guitar-the same type of guitar Johnny Cash used. In addition, fans watched interviews from the cast and crew of Walk The Line on the vMix site. The promotion was designed to enhance the entertainment experience for the vMix user and create additional exposure for Fox.
vMix has more than 1.3 million unique visitors monthly and a more than 120,000 registered members, uploading photos, videos and music daily.
"vMix values the artist in all of us," said Kostello. "Whether it is teens creating their first slide show, amateur indie rock bands uploading songs or the professionals at Fox Home Entertainment, vMix is the pioneer of developing tools and capabilities that empower creators to digitally express themselves in a manner that respects copyrights."
