CAMPBELL, CA, Focus Enhancements Inc (NASDAQ: FCSE), a worldwide leader in media management and Ultra Wideband (UWB) wireless technology, today announced the availability of the new version 4.0 firmware update for its award-winning FS-100 Portable Direct To Edit(R) (DTE) recorder for Panasonic. Version 4.0 expands the functionality of FS-100 by adding DVCPRO HD 720p24/25 and 30 P2 PN and QuickTime PN variable frame rate recording (VFR).

VFR recording allows users with VFR supported cameras to record smooth slow motion and fast motion sequences. This new feature also enables users to use VFR recorded clips immediately in the NLE timeline, bypassing the frame rate conversion process. Additionally, version 4.0 adds revolutionary QuickTime Reference recording, which creates a single reference movie combining multiple files from a given record sequence, greatly aiding workflow for Final Cut Pro users. Version 4.0 is available at no charge to FS-100 owners who currently have version 3.0, and for $39 to those customers with older firmware versions.

"We are continuing to see strong demand for our FS-100 DTE recorder as a companion to Panasonic P2 camera/recorders," said Matt McEwen, senior product manager for Focus Enhancements. "With the addition of the new version 4.0 features, we are pleased to provide more unique functionality to FS-100, further enhancing the flexibility of DTE recording."

With version 4.0, Focus Enhancements continues to offer the most complete and powerful external disk recording solution for DVCPRO HD camera/recorder owners. With capabilities that include over 100 minutes of full rate DVCPRO HD recording, 200 minutes of DVCPRO HD 25p/30p PN recording and 250 minutes of DVCPRO HD 24p PN recording, FS-100 provides the ultimate long-form DVCPRO HD recording solution. Combined with P2, P2 PN, QuickTime and QuickTime PN DTE formats, DVCPRO HD camcorder owners can take full advantage of Direct To Edit workflow. Other recent enhancements to FS-100 include a three-hour battery, cradle mount and improved right-angle 4-pin FireWire cable as standard.

Registered FS-100 version 3.0 owners can download version 4.0 now from the Focus Enhancements website, www.focusinfo.com. Those who have not registered their FS-100 can do so online at the Focus website. Owners of FS-100 1.0 and 2.0 can purchase version 4.0 for $39 from the Focus webstore, www.focusinfo.com/webstore/webstore.asp. For more information, please visit www.focusinfo.com.
