SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- blinkx, the smartest thing on your computer and the Web, today announced a partnership agreement with AtomFilms. The agreement will make over 1,000 of AtomFilms' short film and animation titles -- ranging from zany animations to award-winning cinema -- searchable via the blinkx.tv video search service.

blinkx.tv is unique in that it is able to index and understand rich media content on the web. Traditional search engines rely on manually provided metatags or descriptions of content, while blinkx's technology enables computers to literally watch and listen to video and audio on the web, making it searchable right down to the individual spoken words. Combined with AtomFilms' unique content, users of www.blinkx.tv will be able to find relevant entertainment with a degree of control not previously possible.

"Innovative short-form content from AtomFilms meets the needs of today's consumers, who demand bursts of quality entertainment that fit their busy lifestyles," said Scott Roesch, vice president and general manager of AtomFilms. "blinkx's outstanding technology will make it that much easier for new audiences to find an AtomFilms short that is right for them."

"We all spend more and more time in front of a computer and hooked up to the internet. Entertainment is clearly a major part of our experience online. We're excited to bring AtomFilms' content to our users as they are well known as the provider of much of the Web's most entertaining film and animation," said Suranga Chandratillake, founder and CTO, blinkx.

blinkx.TV and advanced audio/video analysis

blinkx TV combines advanced speech recognition and transcription techniques with intelligent Context Clustering Technology (CCT) and a patented context prediction and synchronization technology to analyze and understand the actual content (spoken words) of an audio/video file, delivering unparalleled automation, accuracy and access to multimedia content from the web. The output of these analytical sub-processes are stored as further metadata tracks, alongside the digitally encoded content itself; not only does blinkx know what was said, blinkx knows exactly when it was said.
