CYPRESS, CA, Announced March 8, 2007 – FOR-A Corporation of America, a leading manufacturer of video and audio systems for the broadcast and professional video industries, will introduce its latest HANABI series innovation, the HVS-600HS HANABI 1 M/E switcher, at NAB 2007 in Las Vegas from April 14-19 (Booth #C4234).

The HVS-600HS expands the features included in the HVS-500HS, an economical, compact switcher introduced last year that accepts HD and SD. Both the HVS-500HS and HVS-600HS offer four HD/SD-SDI inputs and five HD/SD-SDI outputs in the base configuration. Four additional HD/SD-SDI inputs and either two analog inputs and three analog outputs or four analog inputs can be installed as an option. In addition to HD-SDI and SD-SDI, both switchers offer optional HD/SD analog component, analog composite, and signals input via a DVI-I (PC) terminal.

New on the HVS-600HS is the integration of FOR-A’s revolutionary 3D DVE. This true 3D DVE has polygonal-based effects where video is literally wrapped around 3D shapes. The DVE can produce an amazing variety of splashy effects including 3D slabs that are very popular in sports broadcasting. This DVE operates as a dual channel in SD mode or as a single channel in HD mode. The HVS-600HS still offers a dual-channel picture in picture function that can be used without tying up the 3D DVE. The other new feature added to the HVS-600HS is a bus for selecting keys or inputs to the aux bus.

In its maximum configuration, the HVS-600HS supports eight HD/SD-SDI inputs, five HD/SD-SDI outputs, as well as two or four analog inputs and three analog outputs. These inputs and outputs can be accessed using the HVS-600HS’ powerful control panel that has an upgraded layout that includes Program/Preset bus buttons, a Keyer, Aux Bus, and optional DVE direct-control buttons. The HVS-600HS replaces the HVS-500HS’ two-axis joystick with a three-axis joystick.

Like the HVS-500HS, the HVS-600HS also enables the user to add a frame synchronizer card capable of synchronizing up to four channels of asynchronous input. An optional up-converter card enables the system to up-convert up to two channels of SD input to HD signals. (This function requires the installation of a frame synchronizer card or an analog interface card.)

On the HVS-600HS, the Downstream Keyer (DSK) includes FOR-A’s advanced chromakey function as standard, and a full functional keyer can be installed as an option. The HVS-600HS offers 10-bit, 4:2:2 internal processing for a fraction the price of comparable HD switchers.

“When the HVS-500HS debuted at last year’s NAB, it garnered much attention as a product that broadened the realm of HD production,” said Mr. Susumu Hotta, President of FOR-A Corporation of America.

“Like its predecessor, this compact, portable, and cost-effective HD/SD production switcher is well-suited to a wide range of applications, including studio production, mobile production, uplink vans, live production, broadcast television, and live staging or it can be used as a high-quality, stand-alone DVE,” he added. “With its expanded feature set, the HVS-600HS will be well-positioned to serve the rapidly growing demands of today’s HD/SD broadcast and production environments.”

FOR-A will begin shipping the HVS-600HS soon after the NAB show.
