UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif., Aug. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Visual Entertainment presents "Modigliani," starring Andy Garcia as Italian painter and sculptor Amedeo Modigliani. Following a select and successful theatrical run, the DVD will be released on September 27th with a pre-order date of September 6th.
Priced at $26.99 SRP for rental and sell-through, " Modigliani " will be available on DVD in widescreen format with Dolby 5.1 surround sound. This DVD includes a "Making of" featurette and the theatrical trailer as bonus material. Following the successes of many artists' biopics on DVD, "Modigliani" will take its place among such DVDs as "Girl with a Pearl Earring" and "Frida."

SYNOPSIS
Set in Paris in 1919, "MODIGLIANI" is the untold story of one of the art world's greatest romances. He arrived in Paris during its most artistically creative time like a comet touching down on earth, danced on tables with a passion for life and art and, like Van Gogh and Mozart before him, his ending was the tragedy of a real genius. Pursuing his forbidden love with a beautiful Catholic girl, whose only fault, in her father's eyes was to fall in love with a Jew. The renowned artist Modigliani faces off against his fierce rival, Picasso, in a competition that will set the seductive and mysterious Parisian art world aflame. With so much at stake, the artists take refuge before their blank canvases and begin their greatest works, each of their destinies hanging in the balance
Elsa Zylberstein and Omid Djalili also star in this passionate love story and battle of two of the 20th Century's most important artists. "MODIGLIANI" was written and directed by Mick Davis. Davis' other film credits include "Love in Paris," "The Match" and the upcoming "Dorian Gray."
