April 9, 2007 [New York, NY] – Jon Auer, Donovan, Mary Gauthier, Glen Hansard, Kenna, Cass McCombs, Rhett Miller, Adam Schlesinger and Mike Viola, Alice Smith, The Slip, Martha Wainwright, Jimmy Webb, Matt White and Yerba Buena are slated to perform as part of the 2007 Tribeca/ASCAP Music Lounge from Tuesday, May 1 through Friday, May 4 at the Canal Room. The music lounge is produced by the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) and takes place during the Tribeca Film Festival, presented by American Express, which runs from April 25 to May 6, 2007.

In 2005, the Tribeca Film Festival and ASCAP created the Music Lounge as a place for filmmakers to interact with composers and songwriters, encouraging collaboration. The event is an intimate and dynamic showcase featuring live performances by emerging and established artists.

“The Music Lounge is part of the Festival’s continuing commitment to bringing filmmakers and musicians together in a creative environment,” said Jane Rosenthal, co-founder of the Tribeca Film Festival.

During the four days, renowned sixties folk-pop performer Donovan (Zodiac) will entertain with classic hits from “The Hurdy Gurdy Man” to “Mellow Yellow;” Rhett Miller (The Break-Up) will showcase music from The Old 97’s, as well as his solo albums; Irish singer/songwriter Glen Hansard (Once) will provide an acoustic mix of music from his solo debut, The Swell Season, as well as favorites from his band, The Frames; songwriter/composer Adam Schlesinger of Fountains of Wayne and Ivy (That Thing You Do!, Music & Lyrics) will perform with singer/songwriter/composer Mike Viola of The Candy Butchers (That Thing You Do!); and legendary songwriter Jimmy Webb will give a special performance.

"The Tribeca Film Festival shares ASCAP's commitment to exposing great new talent and nurturing more established creators," said Tom DeSavia, ASCAP Senior Vice President of Membership - Pop/Rock. "They have done tremendous work embracing the music community and incorporating them into what is one of the most exciting film festivals in the country. ASCAP is proud to once again partner with this great event."

"As part of ASCAP's continuing efforts to focus attention on the role of music in film, it is with pure joy that we have the opportunity to present the Tribeca/ASCAP Music Lounge for the third year," said music lounge producer Loretta Muñoz, ASCAP Assistant Vice President - Special Projects. "In producing this series at the Canal Room, we create a beautiful and unique opportunity for our songwriters and composers – whether emerging, well-known or icons – to share the same stage and champion their music to the Festival's filmmakers and pass holders."

The Tribeca/ASCAP Music Lounge is located at Canal Room, 285 West Broadway at Canal Street. The lounge is open to credentialed Festival filmmakers and select badge holders May 1 - 4 and features four to five artists daily. Doors open at 2:30 p.m. daily, with performances beginning at 3:00 p.m.
