MAUI, Hawaii and ENGLEWOOD, Colo., June 24 -- Starz Entertainment Group LLC (SEG) presented its first Starz Ion Award to animator Jennifer Shiman at the Maui Film Festival earlier this week during the Festival's Cosmic Closing Night Party. Shiman, creator of Angryalien.com, was honored for her 30-second animated bunny shorts that spoof famous Hollywood films.

The Starz Ion Award was developed to recognize creativity and innovation and to pay tribute to emerging talent in the field of short form entertainment. Shiman's bunny shorts have been featured on Starz, Starz On Demand and Starz Ticket.

"Starz Entertainment Group is pleased to pay tribute to Jennifer Shiman with the first Starz Ion Award," said Jerry Maglio, executive vice president of marketing, SEG. "Jennifer's creative insight has grabbed the attention of our viewers and our industry. Her crazy, infamous shorts, featuring animated bunnies, demonstrate unparallel innovation and talent. She represents the passion behind the Starz Ion Award and we are pleased that she is our first honoree."

In accepting the award, Shiman said, "I feel quite honored to be the recipient of the first Starz Ion Award. To receive such a wonderful award at the Maui Film Festival made the experience extra special!"

Shiman has been drawing cartoons since 1976. She holds an undergraduate degree in international business and a graduate degree in media studies. Angry Alien Productions was born in 1998. Her bunny shorts have been featured on "Good Morning America." Some of the bunny shorts created for SEG spoof "The Rocky Horror Picture Show," "Pulp Fiction," "Highlander" and "The Big Chill."
