Pierre Robichaud: of Portland OR in New York City-Body-3

By Mr. Corey Boutilier

Pierre Robichaud of Portland, Oregon shoots sports themed events and other professional industrials for his clients. Yet, today in Central Park he was just shooting for fun. His camera of choice is the Beaulieu 4008ZM2.

"Man, I've got like three of these at home," says Pierre. The Beaulieu is quite famous in the Super 8 world as having the finest lenses for the format. The camera accepts replaceable "C-mount" lenses.

Pierre has had some of his cameras refurbished by Pro8mm in California. He recently had his batteries re-celled and carries a couple of extras in his kit bag. "One of these batteries will usually last me about two rolls." He always shoots at 24 frames per second.

"I have a lot of experience shooting with Super8. I am trying to convince some of my clients to treat it as a professional format, expecially now that Kodak is offering the Vision2 film stocks."

"You know in Portland, we have a pretty big Super8 film scene. We have a festival where the directors shoot and edit and screen in a single day. I am also now developing my own Black and White Super8 at home. But we have houses in Portland that process and transfer to DV too."

We were both in agreement that with the removal of the Kodachrome film stock it will be hard to recreate that particular Kodachrome look. Pierre said that for those situatuations he would probably just try Ektachrome instead.
