Nantucket, MA – Tickets sales at the 11th Annual Nantucket Film Festival surpassed last years sales by 35% making it another record breaking year for the Screenwriter’s Festival.

This year festival director Jill Burkhart and artistic director Mystelle Brabbee made the decision to move some of the festival’s spotlight events to bigger venues. The extra space came in handy.

A special 450 seat tent was constructed at the swanky White Elephant Hotel to accommodate the demand for the ever popular Late Night Storytelling®, and the NBC Universal Screenwriters Tribute. These events played host to the likes of Paul Giamatti, Thomas Haden Church, Joe Pantoliano, Tom McCarthy, Campbell Scott, Jerry Stiller, Anne Meara, and Bobby Farelly.

In Their Shoes® with Alexander Payne & Jim Taylor was held at the Nantucket Community School creating an Election like feeling during this conversation moderated by Leonard Maltin. The school also played host to the staged reading of the screenplay “Coup de Tat.” Heather Graham, Jimmy Smits, Steven Weber, Mary Kay Place, The Daily Show's Nathan Corddry, and Arrested Development's Michael Cera all participated in this memorable event.

In His Own Words: Brian Williams took place at Nantucket’s Unitarian Church. The pews were full as Al Franken discussed Hurricane Katrina with Williams after screening the anchor’s footage on the subject.

The NFF has been a showcase for some of the top independent films of the last decade. The festival was one of the first to find and platform such films as: The Full Monty, Next Stop Wonderland and Girlfight. NFF 2005 Featured the North American Premiere of Jim Jarmush's Broken Flowers as the Opening Night Film.
