NEW YORK, May 24 /PRNewswire/ -- Fast edits, lightning speed, and the raucous rebel yell of cutting-edge comedy will be coin of the realm at the turbo-attention deficit disorder-fueled 2006 Golden Trailer Awards on June 1st. The definitive word in movie previews, the high-profile Golden Trailer Awards (GTA) announces their return to New York City for the Seventh Annual GTA. As we leap full-throttle into the golden age of coming attractions, the GTA will host their spectacularly irreverent event in the big apple, after four years in Los Angeles. Back on the East Coast by popular demand, the show will take place on June 1, 2006 at the Directors Guild Theatre in Manhattan. Called the "Academy Awards for the short-attention-spanned," the awards gala has become the official kickoff for the summer movie blockbuster season. The event includes trailers in 16 categories ranging from "Best Comedy" to "Best Thriller" to "Best Music" to "Golden Fleece," which will compete for honors at the celebration. Last year, the Golden Trailer inaugurated a new category, "Best Video Game Trailer," in direct response to the exploding popularity of video games.

Front-lining the evening will be the hilariously meat-and-potatoes-esque Jim Gaffigan. Previous hosts have included Dennis Miller and Tom Green. Judges include Quentin Tarantino, Guy Ritchie, Penny Marshall, Edward James Olmos, and Paula Wagner. Tarantino recently expressed his secret cosmic goal of "becoming a GTA judge for life." Thank the heavens we're here to make that dream a reality. Congratulations, Quentin!

The ultimate authority in helping the public with the crucial task of identifying the best trailers on the market, the GTA is the indispensable resource for determining which movies to see all year long. The GTA is the final word, the indisputable seal of approval for the most original and entertaining trailers. Assisting in this celebration of cinematic CliffsNotes are the following presenters, some of the best the world of contemporary comedy has to offer: Jasper Redd, Finesse Mitchell, Donnell Rawlings, Corey Kahaney, Bill Burr, Rich Vos, and Patrice Oneal. Nominees in various categories include "Mission Impossible III," "V for Vendetta," "Cars," "NachoLibre," "Thank You For Smoking," "Wedding Crashers," "Brick," "Brokeback Mountain," "Breakfast on Pluto," and many more. "GTA, I wish I could quit you!"

The Golden Trailer Awards was founded by Evelyn Brady and Monica Brady in New York City in 1999 and has grown to become one of the most anticipated film events of the year. The Golden Trailer Jury has included some of the biggest names in entertainment: David Geffen, Glenn Close, McG, Benicio Del Toro, Ben Stiller, Joel Siegel, Sylvia Rhone, Kathleen Kennedy, and many others.

The Golden Trailer Awards is sponsored by SKYY Vodka, JetBlue Airways, SAAB, 'Made in NY,' The Mayor's Office of Film, and NYWIFT. For more information: http://www.goldentrailer.com/. For tickets, go to http://www.ticketweb.com/.
