"A remarkably smart film ... with jokes designed to make you cringe." - Russell Scott Smith, New York Post
"fierce and darkly funny" - Peter Travers, Rolling Stone
UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif., Aug. 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Visual Entertainment presents "Mail Order Wife" on DVD, winner of the Best Independent Feature Film at the 2005 Santa Barbara Film Festival. The DVD releases on October 4, 2005 with a pre-book date of August 29, 2005 and is priced to sell at $24.99 SRP. Bonus features include commentary by the directors and actors, character profiles and an exclusive look at the actors' auditions.
"Mail Order Wife" was Executive Produced by Doug Liman, director of the hit films "Mr. & Mrs. Smith," "The Bourne Identity," "Swingers," and "Go." Liman and his company, Hypnotic Films were passionate about "Mail Order Wife's" clever concept and were eager to work with the filmmakers.
Set in New York City, "Mail Order Wife" is an outrageous comedy about Adrian, a doorman from Queens, Lichi, his mail order bride and Andrew, a filmmaker and the one man they entrust along the way. Andrew agrees to fund the high costs of ordering Adrian's mail order bride in exchange for the right to film a documentary on the new couple. However, when Adrian crosses the line with his new wife, Andrew's role as hands off documentarian becomes blurred. What transpires next is beyond anything Andrew or Adrian would imagine, as their experiences with Lichi lead them thru a series of unpredictable events.
"Mail Order Wife" stars Andrew Gurland ("Frat House"), Eugenia Yuan ("Memoirs of a Geisha") and Adrian Martinez ("The Interpreter"). "Mail Order Wife" is a First Independent Pictures film.
"'Mail Order Wife' is a bold and original film," stated Gary Rubin, founder of First Independent Pictures. "We are thrilled to bring our first theatrical release to DVD through Visual Entertainment." Soumya Sriraman, VP Marketing Visual Entertainment added, "This quirky comedy will become a cult classic."
