SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 27 /PRNewswire/ -- AtomFilms(R) and Intel Corporation today launched the Intel Indies Film Contest with a call for short film entries available at http://intel.atomfilms.com/ . Filmmakers who enter before the November 21, 2005 deadline will compete for a grand prize that includes worldwide distribution from AtomFilms, $25,000 in cash and $20,000 in digital home equipment from Intel. Winners will be announced at a major film festival in January 2006.

The contest asks entrants to create films that imagine what they would do with a magic wand. The theme allows entrants to fully unleash their imagination and tell the story of how they would transform their world, to make it better, easier, and more exciting, all through the magic of movies.

Entries will be judged by a panel of industry experts, AtomFilms staff and Intel Corp. staff.

"AtomFilms supports the independent spirit and creative vision of today's most innovative filmmakers," said Scott Roesch, vice president and general manager of AtomFilms. "This contest with Intel is the perfect venue to discover and showcase new talent to our audience of more than 5 million monthly viewers."

The Intel Indies contest adds to the growing list of AtomFilms branded entertainment initiatives. Previous events and programs involving major brands have generated more than 10 million content views and played at major film festivals.

"We are pleased to be working with AtomFilms on the Intel Indies contest, which matches a filmmaker's creative expression with Intel's vision and technology for the Digital Home, where consumers can access their digital content -- including movies -- any time, anywhere and on any device," said Jeff McCrea, vice president, Sales and Marketing, and co-president, Intel Americas.
